Our team had a great time exhibiting in Nashville, TN for RNG Works 2024! Membrane Solutions is proud to be an active participant in the push to renewable energy, and we were thrilled to share our solutions for renewable natural gas with attendees.

Membrane Solutions Breaks Ground on $70 Million Expansion

Expansion driven by growing interest in energy transition technologies in the biogas, aerospace and marine industries

Air Products is the global leader in the production of gas separation and purification membranes. On 25 June, we hosted a groundbreaking event at the site of a $70 million expansion of our Missouri Manufacturing and Logistics Center in Maryland Heights, near St. Louis, Missouri.

The investment, which is Air Products Membrane Solutions’ largest ever, is driven by growing product demand in biogas and hydrogen recovery applications, as well as customer needs for the use of nitrogen for the aerospace industry and cleaner fuels for the marine industry.

A crowd of more than 100 guests, including state and local leaders joined Air Products Membrane Solutions employees for the groundbreaking event. Air Products Membrane Solutions Announces Over $70 Million Investment to Expand Missouri Manufacturing and Logistics Center

Expansion Driven by Growing Interest in Energy Transition Technologies in the Biogas, Aerospace and Marine Industries

Air Products (NYSE:APD), the global leader in the production of gas separation and purification membranes, today announced it will invest more than $70 million to significantly expand its manufacturing and logistics center in Maryland Heights, near St. Louis, Missouri.

The investment, which is Air Products Membrane Solutions’ largest ever, is driven by growing product demand in biogas and hydrogen recovery applications, as well as customer needs for the use of nitrogen for the aerospace industry and cleaner fuels for the marine industry.

“We are excited to announce this investment to significantly expand the footprint and production capacity of our St. Louis manufacturing and logistics center. This expansion shows our commitment to continue to be a leader in the energy transition by creating innovative products for a safer, cleaner and more productive world,” said Dr. Erin Sorensen, general manager, Air Products Membrane Solutions. “This expansion also highlights our ongoing commitment to the local community and our talented and motivated employees in the region. We are proud to continue to grow and expand our global manufacturing capabilities in the United States in St. Louis.”

The new manufacturing facility is expected to be in production by the end of 2025 and include the addition of 30 new positions. Currently, about 170 employees work at the St. Louis facility. This expansion follows a previous $10 million investment made in 2023 to increase production capacity at the current facility.

Announcing New PRISM® GreenSep LNG Membrane Separator for Bio-LNG Production

Air Products (NYSE:APD), the global leader in the production of gas separation and purification membranes, today announced the launch of the new PRISM® GreenSep liquefied natural gas (LNG) membrane separator for bio-LNG production.

“As the world’s leading supplier of technology for the LNG industry, the PRISM® GreenSep LNG membrane separator is an excellent addition to our expansive catalogue of solutions for LNG producers,” said Dr. Erin Sorensen, General Manager, Air Products Membrane Solutions. “This cutting-edge technology will deliver a higher LNG yield at a lower operational cost, while also furthering our common goal of building a safer, cleaner, more productive world.”

PRISM® GreenSep LNG membrane separators eliminate the need for intermediate purification technologies such as amine scrubbing or thermal swing adsorption during bio-LNG production, allowing for a higher yield of bio-LNG while also reducing operational expenses and energy consumption. Bio-LNG is liquefied biomethane created from an organic source such as food, animal, or municipal waste.
Air Products will highlight the PRISM® GreenSep LNG membrane separator at BIOGAS AMERICAS at the Savannah Convention Center in Savannah, Georgia from May 13 to May 16. Also at the conference, Rory Deledda, Air Products’ Biogas Product Manager, will host a Tech Talk highlighting the benefits of GreenSep LNG membrane separators for system designers at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15 on the Keynote Stage at BIOGAS AMERICAS.

Congratulations to Dr. Paul Kramer on His Distinguished Engineer Award!

Membrane Solutions is proud to announce that Dr. Paul Kramer has been recognized by Air Products as a recipient of this year’s Distinguished Engineers Award! Air Products President and CEO, Seifi Ghasemi, as well as COO Dr. Samir Serhan, have recognized Dr. Kramer for his technical achievements, expertise in membrane technology, and his leadership in driving continual developments and improvement for the Membrane Solutions business.

Dr. Kramer has worked at Air Products for over 30 years, starting in 1989, and his contributions to growing our membrane business can not be understated. He has been an essential leader in developing our On-Board Inert Gas Generation System (OBIGGS) program for aircraft fuel tank inerting, delivering a product that excels at delivering safe aerospace operation. His vast experience in both fiber/product development and applications/cycle development has made him a valuable resource for colleagues, and he is always willing to lend his knowledge. Dr. Kramer exemplifies Air Products core safety values through his commitment to continuous safety improvements, because the only acceptable number of incidents is zero. We are very proud to see him recognized for his many contributions to building towards a safer, cleaner, more productive world.
